The desire of some members of the public and some members of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors to have an independent redistricting commission for the next Board of Supervisors redistricting in 2021 was in part satisfied Jan. 24 when the Board of Supervisors voted 4-1 to seek state legislation which would revise the California Elections Code and allow the county to create a commission of retired judges.
“We have the opportunity to make fundamental reform,” said Supervisor Greg Cox. “Politicians should not select their voters.”
