PERRIS - Deputies made 13 arrests during a drunken driving checkpoint in Perris, a sheriff's department spokesman said today.
Deputies set up blockades at Perris Boulevard and Harley Knox Road from 6 p.m. Saturday until 2 a.m. today and arrested three motorists suspected of drunken driving and made one felony and nine misdemeanor warrant arrests, according to sheriff's Sgt. Danny Lingo.
There were 1,556 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint. There were 60 traffic citations issued, seven vehicles impounded for 30 days, 26 drivers without proper licenses cited, a half-ounce of marijuana confiscated, 28 vehicles towed and four seat belt violations, Lingo said.
A grant from the state Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Safety Administration, funded the operation.
