SAN JACINTO - A San Jacinto man reportedly fired a gun into the air several times today during a late-night fight and was arrested, a sheriff's department spokesman said. Ruben Clause, 31, of San Jacinto, was booked into the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and negligent discharge of a firearm, said sheriff's Sgt. Ken Ditton. At 12:52 a.m. today, deputies responded to reports of a large fight in the street and gunshots in the area of Coffeeberry Way and Cherry Laurel in San Jacinto, Ditton said. During the investigation, Clause was identified as the person responsible for shooting into the air, according to Ditton. Three people injured in the fight that took place as a large party was ending. They were hospitalized with minor to moderate injuries, but there was no evidence that anyone was hit by gunfire, Ditton said.
