FALLBROOK - The first busload of fifth-graders gathered around Jackie Heyneman, a longtime community volunteer with the Fallbrook Land Conservancy (FLC), who pointed to a cluster of potted wildflower and coastal sage scrub seedlings set in the shade of a stately oak.
“These are being planted for perpetuity,” said Heyneman. “Does anyone know what that means?”
Only a few of the students raise their hands. “It means forever,” Heyneman explained. “They will be here forever – for you, for your families, for your children and grandchildren to enjoy.”
