I typically don’t respond to rumors that I hear about the Village News and we’re usually pretty amused by them. Lately, however, there have been some that need dispelling. First of all, Village News is not going anywhere. Village News has not been sold or looking for a buyer. We still have the same faithful employees and management that have led the business through prosperous and difficult times.
We are still operating out of our Main and Elder Street location with editorial, classifieds, advertising, legal advertising, subscriptions, and bookkeeping. Our office has not moved to Temecula as some have falsely reported. We have allowed many of our employees to start working from home or perform back operations elsewhere. It just made sense for us. Our hours of operation are 8 am to 4 pm.
We are leasing out the Elder House, portions of it, or selling the entire one-acre Main Ave location. If we end up selling the beautiful Elder House property, we will find another suitable downtown location so that our thousands of customers and subscribers will continue to have easy access to our staff.
I’m encouraging our readers to not listen to people who enjoy spreading negative and sometimes slanderous gossip, or feel empowered by it. Let’s fight the negative small town stereotypes and just continue to move forward supporting each other and all the businesses that have been able to weather the storm. Thank you for your continued support.
