Kia Motors and professional lgolfer Michelle Wie donate $50,000 to Operation hero

SAN DIEGO - Kia Motors America and professional golfer Michelle Wie donated $50,000 today to Operation Hero, a program of the Camp Pendleton Armed Services YMCA.

The donation came on the eve of the $1.7 million Kia Classic LPGA Tour tournament at La Costa Resort and Spa.

The funds will help Operation Hero maintain staff and provide equipment and supplies to more than 375 kindergarten and elementary students at Camp Pendleton. The program provides free mentoring and tutoring to children of military families who live at the base in northern San Diego County.
