Second fire in three weeks occurs due to an attempt to eradicate bees

A second fire has occurred in the Fallbrook area within three weeks due to residents trying to eradicate bees from their property.

"We have another case where a resident lit citronella candles and left them burning in an attempt to eradicate bees," said John Buchanan, public information officer for North County Fire. "This time, the candles were on top of bamboo poles."

Buchanan said the fire occurred in the 2500 block of Alta Vista Drive, just a short distance away from the March 8 blaze that was caused by a similar scenario.
