INDIO - A pair of small but shallow earthquakes struck the Coachella Valley today, but there were no reports of damage or injuries.
The first temblor struck with a magnitude of 3.4 at 8:15 a.m. at a depth of 1.2 miles, its epicenter 11 miles north-northeast of Indio and 20 miles south-southwest of Twenty-nine Palms, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Another magnitude-3.4 quake centered in the same general area struck at 6:12 p.m....
