On April 5, 2012, Freida Sever, 87, passed away at home with her family by her side in Fallbrook, Calif. She was born April 24, 1924, the daughter of Jacob and Emelia (Miller) Haid, at Temvik, N.D. She was raised in Hazelton, N.D. on a small farm.
When she was 19, she moved to Seattle, Wash., and there her daughter Donna was born. Shortly after she moved to Anchorage, Alaska where she ran and then bought a restaurant. Then in 1957, she returned to Seattle where she raised her niece Debbie who became like a daughter to her. In 1964, her son Jeff was born, and they moved to Elsinore, Calif. the next year. While she lived in Elsinore, she owned a septic tank pumping and portable toilet rental company until she retired in 1980 and moved to Fallbrook.
She was a strong Christian woman who used her faith in Jesus to influence many.
Freida was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Sever and is survived by her daughters Donna McKeown, San Jose, Calif.; Debbie Gray, Wildomar, Calif.; son Jeff Smith, Fallbrook; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Her funeral was held on April 11 at Living Waters Christian Fellowship and burial was at the Montecito Memorial Park, Colton, Calif. Pall bearers were David Erickson, David Gray, Ben Bougherty, Bob Harding, Mike McKeown, and Jeff Smith.
