Pala Raceway takes strides to minimize noise in Rainbow

After months of discussion, the Pala Environmental Department (PED) has taken strides to reduce noise coming from the Pala Raceway that has funneled into Rainbow Valley.

According to Shasta Gaughen, the environmental director for the PED, “things seem to be progressing in a way that is constructive for the raceway, the Tribe and the people in Rainbow.”

Sounds from motorcycles racing at Pala Raceway, though several miles away from the Rainbow Valley community, would carry through the canyons and into the homes of the community, residents said.
