Hemet High Teacher Faces Felony Charges for Alleged Sex with Student

MURRIETA - A Hemet High School teacher who allegedly had sexual encounters with one of her male pupils was charged today with statutory rape and other felonies.

Janel Pearl Ramirez, 32, could face 20 years in prison if convicted of unlawful intercourse with a minor and two counts of oral copulation of a child under 18 years old.

Ramirez, who remains free on $100,000 bail, was arrested March 1 after a Riverside County sheriff's investigation revealed the woman had allegedly performed sex acts on her 17-year-old teacher's aide.
