Historical Society to meet, present annual awards April 28

FALLBROOK - The public is invited to help celebrate the 35th year of its charter with Fallbrook Historical Society members at its annual meeting at the Fallbrook Library on Saturday, April 28 at 10 a.m. Following a brief business meeting, the group will honor Pioneer of the Year Jack Parkinson and Vintage Award honoree Joellen Maddock.

Former long-time general manager of Fallbrook Public Utility District (FPUD), Gordon Tinker, will speak to the group about water rights fights regarding the Santa Margarita River over the last 90 years, involving FPUD and others. As an engineer in the Navy, Tinker was in charge of the construction of the hospital on Camp Pendleton before retiring to his home in Fallbrook where he has been an active volunteer in local non-profits. He is an elected director of the Fallbrook Healthcare District and also devotes many hours to Rotary International projects.
