Bernal sets school triple jump record

Chris Bernal broke a 34-year-old school record in the triple jump March 7 when Fallbrook High School's track and field team had its first dual meet of the season at home against El Camino.

Bernal's jump of 46 feet 4 1/4 inches broke Kenny Myers' 1978 school record of 45 feet 7 inches and was also the top 2012 mark in the state of California following that meet.

"It was a big day for Chris and a good start to his season," said Fallbrook head coach Troy Hamlin.
