Man Accidentally Runs over, Kills 18-Month-Old

HEMET - A man parking his pickup truck next to his Hemet home today accidentally rolled over his 18-month-old niece, who died at a hospital less than an hour later, authorities said.

The accident happened around 11 a.m. in the 41000 block of Mayberry Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Jeramie Salazar, 28, was pulling into his driveway in his 2002 GMC Yukon as his sister-in-law looked on with one daughter in her arms and her 18-month- old child Esmeralda Rios standing beside her, said CHP Officer Darren Meyer.
