Tot Accidentally Strangles Self on Curtain String

SAN JACINTO - A 14-month-old child died today when she apparently became tangled in a curtain cord and accidentally hung herself.

According to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, the fatality occurred shortly after 11 a.m. at an apartment in the 200 block of East Main Street in San Jacinto.

The child and her 3-year-old sibling were left alone on a living room couch, situated next to a window, when their mother stepped into another room for several minutes, sheriff's officials said.
