Restaurants can still enter Taste of Fallbrook competition

FALLBROOK – Fallbrook Connections has announced that restaurants can still enter the Taste of Fallbrook event scheduled for Friday, July 27. Organizer Sandra Buckingham said her group expects “almost twice as many restaurants and chefs as last year” for the 2012 competition.

Last year’s People’s Choice winner was La Caseta Mexican Restaurant, owned by Delos Eyer. Eyer won a professional food photography session for taking the honor. This year’s People’s Choice winner will receive a gift certificate for a website design or redesign.

Buckingham said new restaurants are welcome to join in the event. In addition to the People’s Choice, there are first, second and third place awards, Critic’s Choice and honorable mention awards.

The new category of Best Dessert, which was started last year, will continue due to its popularity.

Celebrity judge for this year’s event will be Maria Desiderata Montana, an award-winning food and wine journalist, chef, and author.

“This will give our village a wonderful opportunity to be highlighted and put Fallbrook on the culinary map,” said Buckingham.
