Body of Fallbrook's Andres "Andy" Adams' half-brother finally recovered from Merced River

According to reports from Fresno County, the body of six-year-old Jacob Adams, was recovered mid-day Thursday, August 23 from the Merced River, about 50 yards downstream from where he was last seen.

Jacob and his 10-year-old half brother, Andres "Andy" Adams of Fallbrook, were swept downriver on August 15. Andy's body was recovered shortly after the incident about 150 yards downstream. Emergency efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

Authorities said the delay in finding Jacob's body was due to the rough terrain, fluctuating water levels, and weather conditions.

Jacob resided with his father and mother in Yorba Linda, while Andy made his home in Fallbrook with his mother.

The boys were on a trip with their father, Jacob's mother, and extended family to the Yosemite National Park area when the accident occurred.

The boys were wading in the Merced River near the Vernal Fall footbridge when they were swept downstream by the current.

Services were held this week in Fallbrook for Andy Adams, who was a student at Frazier Elementary School.
