Chance of thunderstorms, heavy showers in mountains and deserts

SAN DIEGO - There's a chance of thunderstorms and heavy showers in the mountains and deserts of San Diego County later today, forecasters said.

Unstable weather would be the result of residual monsoonal moisture from Monday's wet weather in the inland valleys, mountains and deserts, according to the National Weather Service.

Rainfall totals from Monday include 1.22 inches in Rincon Springs, 1.89 on the La Jolla Indian Reservation, 0.48 on the Barona Indian Reservation, 1.35 in Alpine, 1.59 on Palomar Mountain, 0.87 on Otay Mountain, and 1.11 in Boulevard.
