Sponsors sought to provide CAST scholarships for youth

FALLBROOK - Most area residents are familiar with the Mission Theatre playhouse on Main Avenue in Fallbrook and the performances offered there. After a thorough renovation in the 90s, the theatre runs weekend shows with real actors on stage. The actors on stage are often children from within the community.

C.A.S.T. Productions and the staff at C.A.S.T. Academy of Acting spend its summers hosting summer camps and this year’s Seussical was a huge success. Also offered during the school year are after school programs which expose local community children to performing arts.

What you may not know about the productions is that they are produced and funded through a local non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, Children’s Acting School & Theatre Inc. Founded in 1994, Children’s Acting School & Theatre Inc also known as C.A.S.T. has been educating youth and entertaining the community through its dance, music, and acting academies.

C.A.S.T. offers a scholarship program for its academy classes to under-advantaged youth as well as an ongoing opportunity for local volunteers to earn community service hours and/or credit toward tuition fees.

Currently, C.A.S.T. Dance Academy is ramping up to produce its second annual “The Nutcracker Suite” and is currently searching for partnerships within the community to help fund the scholarship program and continue to keep the arts alive in Fallbrook.

For information about ways to help, or to inquire about participating, contact Sarah Jones, director of Nutcracker, or Jennifer Hornsveld, director of Acting Academy or Julie Hernandez, fundraising chair, at (760)731-2278 or email
