Fallbrook VFW offers patriotic essay contest to students

FALLBROOK – Fallbrook Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1924 has two essay programs which encourage student participation and are now taking entries.

Voice of Democracy (VOD) is open to students in grades nine to12 who are enrolled in a local school. This year’s theme is “Is Our Constitution Still Relevant?” VOD awards begin on the local level with first place at $500, second place at $300, and third place at $200.

Patriot’s Pen is open to sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students and this year’s theme is “What I Would Tell America’s Founding Fathers.” Patriot’s Pen awards are $300 for first...
