Scattered showers to linger throughout region today

RIVERSIDE - Just a few scattered showers lingered throughout Riverside County early today as the year's first fall storm slowly made its exit to the east.

The low pressure system made landfall in the region late Wednesday, lingering into early Thursday and dropping temperatures 10 to 20 degrees below normal.

Though mostly light to moderate showers are expected today, brief heavy downpours are possible, according to a National Weather Service advisory. The agency urged motorists to slow down on wet roads.

The weekend is expected to bring a gradual warming trend along with fair weather, NWS meteorologist Tina Stall said.
