PALA (Wire Service) – The Pala Band of Mission Indians announced today a $140,000 donation to the Bonsall Union School District for the 2012-2013 school year. The donation was presented last night by Chairman Robert Smith at the Bonsall USD School Board meeting.
The donation will be used to assist with transportation costs and support programs at Vivian Banks Charter School in Pala.
“We are pleased to help the Bonsall School District provide the best education possible for our local students,” said Robert Smith, Chairman of the Pala Band of Mission Indians. “Budgets cuts continue to be a reality for many organizations, but education needs to be a priority. This contribution will help ensure access to a high quality education for our region’s future leaders.”
The Pala Tribe has donated over $500,000 over the past four years to the Bonsall Union School District.
According to this year’s Academic Performance Index, Vivian Banks Charter School has experienced significant growth in academic performance – up 63 points from last year’s report.
