Fallbrook High announces 69 students earn AP Scholar Awards

FALLBROOK – Sixty-nine students at Fallbrook Union High School have earned AP Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on AP Exams, it was announced last week.

The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program® (AP®) provides willing and academically prepared students with the opportunity to take rigorous college-level courses while still in high school, and to earn college credit, advanced placement, or both for successful performance on the AP Exams. About 18 percent of the more than 1.9 million students worldwide who took AP exams performed at a sufficiently high level to also earn an AP Scholar Award. At Fallbrook Union High School, over 21 percent of the students who tested earned an award.

The College Board recognizes several levels of achievement based on students’ performance on AP Exams.

At Fallbrook Union High School:

Three students qualified for the National AP Scholar Award by earning an average score of 4 or higher on a five-point scale on all AP Exams taken and scores of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams. These students are Brendan Conner, Maria Luna, and Sam Marton.

Fifteen students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. These students are Jack Alperstein, Caleb Ashbrook, Kristie Ashby, Grason Caldwell, Brendan Conner, Sofia Cruz, Rachel Day, Chris Douglas, Cannon Hall, Bridgette Harrison, Danica Hooper, Maria Luna, Sam Marton, Florencio Romero, and Nathan Sneller.

Thirteen students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. These students are Rebecca Allen, Samantha Branham, Savanah Dawkins, Garrett Gordon, Anahi Guerrero, Alexander Heald, Chip LaChat, Andrew Dong Lee, Alexander Louden, Melanie Anne Magalued, Laura Marks, Hannah Oppermann, and Kathleen Young.

Forty-one students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams with scores of 3 or higher. The AP Scholars are Alexander Albanna, Victoria Bergin, Daniel Borja, Christina Bosch, Makayla Bradford, Ashley Chaney, Jennifer Chavez, Holly Contreras, Leonel Diaz, Mckenna Diverde, Selina Eich, Amanda Gibson, Angel Gonzalez, Gregorio Gregorio, Adnan Hasib, Sofia Hughes, Jessica Jameson, Felipe Jimenez, Brandon Lee, Jessica Leon, Cullen Lethin, Millie Lim, Cesar Loera, Miguel Lopez, Cullen Mandrayar, Michael Maryn, Joshua Maxwell, Samuel McDaniels, Alanna McLeod, Roselia Mendez Murillo, Keith Mielke, Lizeth Palma, Adalberto Perez, Brenda Ramirez, Karla Ruiz, Jonfranco Shattuck, Kayla Shires, Andrea Stofko, Gustavo Tarango, Casey Turi, and Austin Welby.

Of this year’s award recipients at Fallbrook Union High School, 25 are juniors. These students have one more year in which to complete college-level work and possibly earn a higher-level AP Scholar Award.
