FALLBROOK – While the nation gears up for another presidential election, students at Live Oak Elementary geared up for their own elections. This year, instead of the typical voting method in which students cast their votes in their own classrooms, students took their votes to the polls - a specially designated classroom where they filled in their voting forms in individual cubicles. Each voter received an “I Voted” sticker before leaving the voting site.
Campaigning began with 30 candidates running for the positions of secretary, treasurer, vice president, and president. Candidates had to participate in an application process before running. Campaigning included creating posters, writing campaign summaries, and giving speeches that were filmed and broadcast to each classroom on election day.
