SAN DIEGO – Longtime Rainbow resident Fernando “Tito” Steere competed in the San Diego Senior Olympics recently and brought home three gold medals.
The fitness portion of the competition took place in El Cajon on Sept. 30. Steere won gold medals in sit-ups, push-ups, and dips. He also won a silver medal in pull-ups.
Steere is a member of Secure Horizons’ Silver Sneakers Program and works out at Club Paradise Fitness Center in Fallbrook.
At 87 years young, Steere was the oldest competitor in this field. He said he is “looking forward to more medals in next year’s competition” when he will be 88.
