Firefighters enter an area of heavy brush surrounding Lake Rancho Viejo in an effort to fight a fire that started in the area shortly after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30. Emergency personnel were using chainsaws to provide the firefighters with better access through the heavy riparian brush (bamboo-like material).
6:30 pm Residents in the area are saying that the fire appears to be out and air personnel have left the area. Investigators continue to piece the puzzle together to figure out how the fire started. Rumors were that the cause of the fire might have been either youth ignited it or someone was operating equipment in the brush-filled area.
5:50 pm: There are now four helicopters dumping water on the fire. At least one street has been evacuated.
