Supervisors Oppose Proposition Mandating 'Genetically Engineered' Food Labels

RIVERSIDE - A majority of Riverside County supervisors will be rooting Tuesday for the defeat of Proposition 37, which one supervisor described as a ''job killer'' measure and threat to local farming operations.

In a 4-0 vote -- with Supervisor Bob Buster abstaining -- the Board of Supervisors voiced opposition last month to the ''Genetically-Engineered Foods Labeling Initiative.''
