Medicare encourages preventive health care

Every day, approximately 11,000 baby boomers age in to Medicare.1 In addition, people under the age of 65 with disabilities account for more than 16 percent of the total Medicare population.2

While the Medicare-age population will continue to grow as the flood of baby boomers reach 65 years of age, the health challenges faced by these boomers are truly challenging:

31 percent of people turning 65 in 2011 said their physical health is worse than they thought it would be.3

14 million – or one out of every four boomers – is expected to be living with diabetes by 2030.4
