Man struck and killed while crossing highway in wheelchair

PERRIS - The death of man in a wheelchair, who was struck while cross Highway 74, was under investigation today.

The accident near Meadowbrook Road was reported at 6:09 p.m. Saturday, according to the Riverside County coroner's office and a fire department spokeswoman.

Authorities said the man, whose name was being withheld pending notification of his next of kin, was 48 years old. It was unclear if the driver of a flatbed pickup that fatally struck the man did anything wrong....
