Warriors beat Otay Ranch, lose to Poway in volleyball playoffs

Fallbrook High School’s girls volleyball team won its first playoff match in four years Nov. 7 at home against Otay Ranch before losing a Nov. 10 quarterfinal match at Poway.

The seventh-seeded Warriors, whose previous playoff win was against Otay Ranch in the first round of the 2008 post-season, defeated the 10th seeded Mustangs in five games in the first round of this year’s CIF Division I playoffs.

“We just pulled it out in the end,” said Fallbrook coach Robin Reese.

“It was another long five-game match,” Reese said. “We battled the whole time.”
