PALA, CA – The Pala Band of Mission Indians announced Dec. 12 that it had donated nearly $5,000 to organizations and other Indian tribes throughout the North San Diego County region for holiday events and causes.
“We are pleased to support the programs of fellow Indian tribes and other organizations this holiday season,” said Robert Smith, chairman of the Pala Band of Mission Indians. “By donating to several organizations, the Pala Band of Mission Indians is able to share the spirit of the season with more groups and make a bigger difference in this region’s most underserved communities.”
Among the groups receiving between $500 and $1,500 or an in-kind donation this season were:
-Cahuilla Band of Indians Community Christmas Gathering
-Mesa Grande Band of Mission Indians Community Christmas Gathering
-Hopland Band of Pomo Indians Community Christmas Gathering
-Leukemia and Lymphoma Society – Team in Training
-Victoria House Corporation – 49th Annual Toyland Parade
-Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund – Holiday Fund Drive
-Indian Health Council, Inc. – 2012 Holiday Season Gifts for Native Youth
-Indian Youth of America – 32nd Annual Christmas Party
-Fallbrook Hospital Auxiliary – Holiday Setting Luncheon Silent Auction
- San Diego Veterans Hospital – 2012 Care and Share Silent Auction
The most recent donations are just a portion of the over $500,000 the Pala Band of Mission Indians has contributed to community groups this year.
