Retired teachers award grants

FALLBROOK – Throughout the year, the California Retired Teachers Association raises funds for teacher grants. Alison Haplem and Brian Gunner are two of several teachers who have received teacher grants from CalRTA Fallbrook Division 81 for 2012. Both Haplem and Gunner teach at San Onofre Elementary School.

Haplem, a first grade teacher, plans to purchase a read-along listening center to enhance the language arts curriculum in her classroom.

Gunner, an eighth grade science teacher, will use his money to purchase materials to develop an “exploratorium” which is a living, working science museum that demonstrates important science concepts.
