SAN DIEGO COUNTY – The County of San Diego Departments of Public Works and Environmental Health are holding three recycling events in Fallbrook on Saturday, Jan. 12.
Clean up and clean out! Join the County for a free one-day recycling event! Residents are invited to 1) drop off those hard to recycle items at the community recycling event, 2) learn how to reuse and repair common household items, including clothing, appliances and equipment, as well as home weatherization at the Reuse and Repair Fair, and 3) drop off household hazardous waste (restrictions apply).
Free recycling drop off: Tires, yard trimmings and greens (provided by Fallbrook Refuse), scrap metal, appliances, and paper for shredding will be accepted at Fallbrook High School located at 2400 South Stage Coach Lane. The event is on the backside of the high school located on Winterhaven Road, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Restrictions on tires and appliances accepted will be enforced. No tires with rims/wheels. Residential tires only. No truck/business tires. Tires must be reasonably clean of dirt. Only nine tires per vehicle. Residents may call to make arrangements for tires with rims or loads of more than nine tires: (877) 713-2784.
Residents with waste appliances should call (877) 713-2784 to receive a confirmation number prior to the event. Space is limited. The following items will be accepted for free: scrap metals, ovens/stoves, washers, dryers, air conditioners, water heaters, dish washers, and refrigerators and freezers.
Reuse and repair fair: One man’s trash is another man’s treasure. That is never more true than when finances are tight. Recycling our waste is only one part of how residents can conserve resources and limited finances. Reducing waste and reusing items through repair and repurposing can also help. Local experts will be onsite to talk about bike maintenance, home composting, home weatherization, appliance repair, and many more topics!
Free kids activities and free donation drop off of clothes and furniture will be available on site at Fallbrook High School located at 2400 South Stage Coach Lane from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Free household hazardous waste drop off: Residents may also take advantage of the County’s Free Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Drop-Off located at Ingold Sports Park across from the high school at 2551 Olive Hill Road without an appointment from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
HHW items include: paint, household cleaners, pool/auto/lawn chemicals, aerosols, and lighter fluid. State law prohibits transport of over 15 gallons or 125 pounds at one time. No containers larger than 5-gallon buckets will be accepted. Limit five televisions or computer monitors per car. Not accepted: business waste, ammunition, explosive or radioactive materials.
