On Jan. 8, 2013, Richard Powers, 79, unexpectedly went home to be with the Lord. His passing was painless and sudden. He touched so many throughout his life. Dick grew up in Rosemead, Calif., and attended Mark Keppel High School. He and his late wife, Tina, raised their family in Rosemead, West Covina and La Verne.
In 1994, after retiring from Gould Nav-Com, they relocated to Fallbrook, where they thoroughly enjoyed their retirement years. He was blessed to fall in love a second time and married Marg Wolf in 2011.
He was very active in many aspects of his church, Christ the King Lutheran Church. He enjoyed reading the Bible, traveling in his RV, being with friends and spending time in his workshop. His greatest joy was being surrounded by family.
He will be missed by many, especially his daughters Debbie (Curt) Pike, Sherry (Jeff) Rose, Linda Aguilera and Jaynie Sullivan; and his wife, Marg and her two children, Vickie Wolf and Brad (Kathy) Wolf. One of his greatest sources of joy was being the grandfather to his eight grandchildren, Mitchell and Brett Pike; Kevin, Kyle and Courtney Rose; Beth and Richie Aguilera and Scott Sullivan. He also leaves behind two sisters, Evelyn Welton and Patty DeCosta.
We take great comfort in knowing that he was looking forward to going home to the Lord when he was called.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, at Christ the King Lutheran Church at 1620 S. Stagecoach Lane in Fallbrook.
