SAN DIEGO - Rain fell in parts of San Diego County this morning as a low pressure system moved south off the California coast, and forecasters expect rain to continue throughout the week.
Cooler weather, clouds and more rain are expected this afternoon and Friday as the low pressure system moves across northern Baja California and the most southern reaches of California, according to the National Weather Service.
Bands of heavier showers Friday afternoon into evening could drop from a half-inch up to an inch of rain over a six-hour period.
''Dynamics to help support shower development across southwest California are strongest though this morning and then again late Friday through early Saturday,'' according to the NWS.
Lighter amounts, mainly near the mountains, could fall as a colder system approaches from the northwest late Saturday through early Sunday. Gusty winds in the mountains and deserts are also expected.
The showers should decrease late Saturday through early Sunday, but more rain along and west of the mountains is expected through Monday night.
