Former Lake Elsinore city councilman George Alongi beaten to death

LAKE ELSINORE (Wire Service) - A former Lake Elsinore city councilman was beaten to death inside his home, and no arrests have been made, a sheriff's sergeant said today.

Sheriff's deputies raced to the 1000 block of Dolly Drive after receiving a call at 5:38 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 about the discovery of George Alongi, 77.

Paramedics tried reviving Alongi, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Jeff Buompensiero said.
