Bonsall sixth graders enjoy Chinese feast

BONSALL – The sixth graders at Sullivan Middle School had their annual China Banquet on Friday, Feb. 8. For the past five weeks, their social studies teachers, Terry Breckenridge, Jennifer Gaetani, and Jenn Johnston have been leading them through the China unit as their “empresses.”

In each core class, the students were divided into five groups known as the Zhou, Tang, Han, Sung, and Ming dynasties. They worked together to compete with other dynasties for the “Mandate of Heaven” which in ancient Chinese culture was the belief that the rulers had the divine approval of the gods. In order...
