On Wednesday, April 3, at about 11 p.m., a downed power line started a brush fire next to our house on Genista Place. Nathan Benner, a Fallbrook High student and Sycamore Ranch neighbor, spotted the fire from the hill opposite ours. He not only called 911, but drove to the fire to notify us and stayed to help.
When I opened my front door to “there’s a fire” and saw it 20 yards from my house, I was shocked. His quick actions and calm demeanor saved the day - and in all likelihood, our house.
