Youth can choose a free mineral in Fallbrook Gem & Mineral Society giveaway

FALLBROOK – The Fallbrook Gem & Mineral Society (FGMS) is implementing a new mineral giveaway program for youth. Starting in May, all youth (18 years and under) who visit the FGMS museum will be offered a free mineral of their choice.

The goal of the giveaway is to reach out to local youth and help them discover the wonderful world of geology, in particular, rocks, gems and minerals.

The museum has a spectacular array of rocks, gems, and minerals from around the world, and a special display of gems mined locally in San Diego County. The museum also features fossils, an eye-popping fluorescent display, a gift shop, and recently donated spectacular egg collection.

Museum is open 11a.m. to 3 p.m., Thursday – Saturday, at 123 W. Alvarado Street, Fallbrook. Admission is always free. Private tours can be arranged by appointment. For more information, call (760)728-1130 or visit http://www.fgms.com.
