One block off of a busy intersection in Fallbrook is what I believe to be a “winner” in a neighborhood beautification award.
I have been down Vine Street many times in the past few years, visiting a friend who lives there. I have watched with awe as this group of neighbors work hard to keep their street neat and tidy, free from graffiti, and swept clean.
Last week, I was surprised to see, at the end of the cul-de-sac, a garden had been planted, filling a space where only shrubs had been before. After asking around, I was told Edgar Chavez, a graduate of Fallbrook High School, had decided to recreate the garden area with a variety of flowers and vegetables – thus creating a rainbow of color. It brightened the whole neighborhood.
At one time, I was actively involved in classroom activities for the Garden Club. I would certainly given mention to this impromptu expression of “making the world a better place” award.
Thank you, Edgar Chavez.
