Ceremonial flag retirement ceremony to be held

There will be a ceremonial United States Flag Retirement Ceremony at Anza Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1873 on June 13 at 5 p.m.

Title 36 of the US Code establishes the Flag Code and among other specific details, provides direction for the disposal of unserviceable flags. Specifically, the code says, “The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning.”

Bring your tattered, worn, or faded flags to Anza Valley VFW Post 1873 for proper, honorable disposition.
