Fallbrook Music Society announces 2013-2014 season

FALLBROOK – Fallbrook Music Society is proud to celebrate its 36th anniversary year, and the new 2013-2014 concert season promises to showcase some of the finest concerts that have ever been presented by the organization. The season offers an impressive lineup of large orchestral works, and intimate virtuoso performances of solo and chamber groups.

“We have a thrilling season planned,” said Jane Lorenz, president of Fallbrook Music Society. “This year, we have a stellar lineup of music, musicians and soloists rarely found in rural communities such as ours, and I know that new audience members will be truly amazed to discover that these remarkable world-class performances are available in Fallbrook,” she added.

Here’s a snapshot of the new season:

Sunday, Oct. 6 – This fascinating program offers the fun and unique sounds of Germany’s Accordion Orchestra Keiper and the German Brass Band in an eclectic mix of classical music by Grieg, Hummel and Shostakovich, as well as popular renditions of lighter music such as ‘Lord of the Dance.’

Sunday, Nov. 24 – This All-Mozart program by Redlands Symphony features the spirited and powerful overture to the opera Don Giovanni, Concerto for Flute and Harp, and Symphony No. 39 – one of the great works of Mozart’s genius.

Sunday, Dec. 8 – ‘An Atlantic Christmas,’ features one of Southern California’s finest choral groups – the innovative Sacra/Profana Choir, along with the San Diego Children’s Choir. This performance is certain to get everyone into the spirit of Christmas – with American and English classics from both sides of the Atlantic.

Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014 – Redlands Symphony takes the audience on a Scandinavian journey with ‘Northern Lights,’ featuring compositions by Norwegian and Finnish Masters Sibelius and Grieg.

Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014 – World-renowned Pianist Alexander Schimpf from Germany – 2011 First Prize Winner, Cleveland International Piano Competition, delivers an elegant and intense performance featuring Bach, Schubert, Rachmaninoff, Debussy and Kapustin.

Sunday, Mar. 2014 – Back by popular demand, the Chamber Orchestra Kremlin consists of some of Russia’s finest young string players who will deliver a high-energy, addictive performance.

Sunday, April 13, 2014 – The Season Finale with Redlands Symphony, honors the 70th Anniversary of D-Day, and pays homage to the heroes who have served our nation. Selections by John Williams, Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland and Richard Addinsell will be on this heart-moving program.
