Large-scale amphibious exercise on Camp Pendleton will likely affect traffic on Interstate 5 Sunday, June 23

CAMP PENDLETON - It won't be "the shores of Tripoli,'' but rather the shores of North County that will see heavy action by the United States Marines on Sunday, June 23.

Traffic between on busy Interstate 5 between San Diego and Orange counties may snarl when Marines and sailors with the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, Boxer Amphibious Ready Group, will come ashore at Camp Pendleton.

Their amphibious assault exercise is part of a three-week pre-deployment training event, and is a joint exercise with the Japanese Self Defense Force, Marines officers said.
