NCFPD adopts social media policy

The North County Fire Protection District amended its policies and procedures manual to add a social media policy.

The NCFPD board’s 4-0 vote July 23, with Ruth Harris absent, addresses both personal use of social media and official district social media sites.

“One of the objectives is to make clear for our employees what they may or may not do and may or may not post about calls they run,” said NCFPD fire chief Bill Metcalf. “The challenge is to allow people freedom and maintain transparency but at the same time protect people’s privacy.”
