Former Camp Pendleton Marine pleads guilty to defrauding DOD and VA

SAN DIEGO - A former Camp Pendleton Marine captain admitted to defrauding the U.S. Marine Corps and the Department of Veterans Affairs out of thousands of dollars while stationed at the North County installation from 2009 to 2011, it was announced today.

Capt. Shawn A. Joyce of Stafford, Va. was discharged from active duty in 2008, then entered the Marine Corps Reserve, where he received orders to return to active duty at Camp Pendleton.
