Camp Pendleton Young Marines visit Del Mar racetrack

The Camp Pendleton Young Marines were the guests of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club on August 14.

The Young Marines were given tours of the press box, the paddocks, the winner’s circle, and the jockey area. “We got to do all kinds of stuff,” said unit commander Trish Jones.

The Young Marines as a national organization date back to 1958, and the Camp Pendleton unit was founded in 1985. This was the first trip to the Del Mar racetrack for the Camp Pendleton Young Marines, who were invited by Del Mar Thoroughbred Club director of media Mac McBride. “We were very happy to accept,” Jones said.
