Learn about growing macadamia nuts

FALLBROOK – Area residents can learn how to grow macadamia nuts at a seminar being held Saturday, Oct. 5, from 8:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the residence of Scott and Rina Liles, 1378 Willow Glen Road in Fallbrook.

Information will be presented by the University of California Cooperative Extension, the California Macadamia Society, and the Gold Crown Macadamia Association.

In addition to the commercial growers, macadamias make excellent backyard trees, are beautiful as landscaping, and can be grown in tubs on a patio. The macadamia is native to Australia and has been grown in California continuously since 1879.

Cost of the seminar is $17/person (pre-registered) or $20/person at the door. Entry includes breakfast and lunch.

To register, or for more information, call Jim Russell at (760) 728-8081 or email [email protected].
