Doris Helen Ham

Born to Otto and Irene Schmid on January 25, 1929 in San Diego, Doris Helen Ham lived and loved for 84 years. Primarily a homemaker for her husband Murray who preceded her in 2002, Doris resided in Fallbrook for the past 43 years. During this time she sold real estate, sang her heart out with the Fallbrook Chorale and St. Peter’s Church choir and volunteered for the Reche Community Club and the Fallbrook Senior Center.

Doris raised six children; David Ham of Cypress, Calif., Millie Patterson of Oceanside, Marlena Rich of Boulder, Colo., Eileen Power of Cypress, Theresa Bowers who passed away in 2002, and Lisa Ogden of Carlsbad. She enjoyed the love of daughter-in-law Yvonne Ham and sons-in-law Alan Patterson, John Power, Larry Bowers, and Scott Ogden. Thirteen grandchildren kept Grandma young to the end, Michele Ward, David Ham, Jr., Christine Ward, Alison & Noelle Patterson, Heather Kinney, Sean & Travis Power, Matthew & Robyn Bowers, Chase, Mackenzie, and Whitney Ogden. Her legacy continues on with three great-grandchildren; Andrew & Aaron Ward and Devon Ward.

Doris passed away peacefully at her daughter Lisa’s home on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 of cancer.

A memorial mass was held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fallbrook on Monday,

September 23.
