Man suspected of tossing loaded gun while running from police arrested and released

HEMET - A man suspected of tossing away a loaded gun while running ahead of police was arrested and released today when he posted bail, records showed.

Three Hemet police encountered Devaughn R. More, 20, of Hemet, during a foot patrol early Friday around Alessandro Street and Kimball Avenue. More bolted from the officers and headed west towards Gilbert Street, according to the Hemet Police Department.

More allegedly threw a loaded .22 caliber revolver during his flight and hid inside a drainage canal on South Gilbert Street. More allegedly had marijuana and several one hundred dollars bills, including one that was a counterfeit bill, police reported.

The handgun was not reported stolen, police said.

More was arrested and later booked for suspicion of misdemeanor resisting arrest, having a concealed firearm and possessing the counterfeit money. Jail records showed More was released from custody today when he posted $5,000 bail.
