FALLBROOK – Live Oak Elementary hosted its first Family Fun Reading Night and the event was a huge success. Over 200 parents showed up to learn how to engage their children with fun reading activities. Make it and take it activities were done for grades k-6 where students worked on reading comprehension, phonics letters and sounds and literary analysis. All lessons were based on focus standards in English language arts.
Parents also visited the computer lab and learned how to use accelerated reader - an online reading comprehension program and mion - a bilingual reading program for dual language students. Live Oak will host two more Family Fun Nights; Math Family Night will take place Jan. 23, 2014 and Science Family Fun Night is on March 20, 2014.
